ABEC indicates the level of manufacturing precision. In practice, a ABEC7 offers sharper and smoother handling at high speeds, with a more precise steering feel. A ABEC 5 remains a very suitable choice for versatile use, as it is more forgiving and often more economical.
No, they aren't not recommended for use in salt water for heavy-duty use. For marine environments, opt for Hedgehog AIR HD with its HRCB anti-corrosion structure, which is up to 10 times more resistant to salt.
The AIR HD are supplied pre-lubricated. The AIR Ceramic can be used dry (for maximum performance) or with a very low-viscosity oil. The ABEC5 and Orange Seals perform best with a low-viscosity oil. Always avoid using thick oils or greases on the reel bearings.
