To remove it, simply remove the metal clip holding it in place. It\u2019s then up to you whether or not to replace the seal. Fitting it protects the bearing from dirt but must be removed every time you want to oil the bearing, whereas not refitting it simplifies maintenance but leaves the mechanism more exposed. I opted for the second option.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bjules\/6949797134\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm8.staticflickr.com\/7178\/6949797134_d03dc93aab_c.jpg\" alt=\"P1030901\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Place the new bearing in the housing and put the small metal part back in position. The second bearing is located in the friction brake lever at Shimano<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bjules\/6950959688\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5119\/6950959688_945c447354_c.jpg\" alt=\"P1030886\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Unscrew the knob and remove the spring located between the knob and the bearing<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/bjules\/6950960826\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.staticflickr.com\/5116\/6950960826_2c7e97aecc_c.jpg\" alt=\"P1030888\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Remove the bearing (if it is really stuck, removing the spool via the sideplate may make it easier to take out).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u2013 Fit the new bearing after oiling it as described above.
